The task

Under the German Pharmacy Operations Ordinance (ApBetrO), the identity of every starting material must be tested and documented before processing. Pharmacy inspectors increasingly expect methods that are specified in the pharmacopoeia.

Conventional tests cost time and reagents, and often require a second or third test. MIR spectroscopy according to Ph. Eur. 2.2.24, by contrast, delivers the chemical fingerprint of the substance in a single measurement – exactly the method the monographs refer to.
